Some Kupffer cells (arrows) have phagocytized carbon particles. These macrophages derive from the monocytes originating in the bone marrow.

This field also shows a central vein (V) with connected sinusoids (*).

Cross sections of bile canaliculi between hepatocytes are indicated (red arrowheads).
