This field shows the base of several gastric glands, cut transversely, with their basophilic zymogenic (+) and acidophilic parietal cells (P).

Two endocrine cells (arrows) with their fine chromatophilic granulations are visible.

The lamina propria contains smooth muscle cells (*). Bundles of these cells inserted on the muscularis mucosa (M) reach the epithelium at the surface of the mucosa.
