  1. Intestinal villi, that is, digitlike processes of the mucosa
  2. Intestinal tubular crypts that open at the base of the intestinal villi
  3. Muscularis mucosa composed of smooth muscle fibres
  4. Lightly stained mucous acini of Brunner's glands seen above and below the muscularis mucosa
  5. Tunica muscularis mucosa (only a small portion of this tunica is visible here)
