This field shows the base of gastric glands composed of basophilic zymogenic cells (+) and acidophilic parietal cells (P).

A small endocrine cell is visible (arrow). It contains fine brownish-red secretory granules. These cells secrete gastrin which stimulates the secretion of HCl by the parietal cells.
