This field shows several intestinal crypts lined with numerous PAS-positive goblet cells (arrows). Lightly stained enterocytes are inserted between the goblet cells.

These two types of cells are at various steps of differentiation at the bottom of the crypts (*).

The fragile epithelium at the surface of the mucosa was damaged during the preparation of the tissue.
