Section of the medulla of the thymus of an adult.

The following structures are labelled: arteriole (A); venules (V); thymic, or Hassall’s, corpuscles (T).

The surrounding tissue is composed of closely packed lymphocytes, epithelial reticular cells and macrophages, which cannot be easily identified in this thick section.
