Next to a normal primary multilaminar follicle (Pa-m), a large secondary follicle with its large antrum (An) shows obvious signs of degeneration, or atresia.

This regression is indicated by the disorganization of the zona granulosa (ZG) and the presence of numerous degenerating and pyknotic nuclei of follicular or granulosa cells (arrows).
