Section of a large secondary or antral follicle (SF).

The antrum (An), which gradually increases in size, contains abundant follicular fluid.

Among the surrounding follicular (Fo) or granulosa cells, some surround the large oocyte (O) to form the cumulus oophorus (CO).

In the surrounding stroma, a distinct theca interna (TI) is seen at the surface of this growing follicle.

Numerous primordial (Po) and a few early primary follicles (Pa-m) are seen between the secondary follicle and the tunica albuginea (Alb).
