Section of a human seminiferous tubule.

The spermatogonia (Sg) are seen next to the limiting membrane (M). Generations of mid-pachytene primary spermatocytes (Sc) and early round spermatids (St) are also present.

Some late spermatids or spermatozoa (Sz) are seen at the surface of the epithelium ready to be released into the lumen of the tubule (*) leaving behind cytoplasmic residual bodies (R).
