The epithelium lining this duct is stratified and columnar.

This epithelium shows intra-epithelial mucous glands. The framed area is shown at a higher magnification in Figure 15.43.

Some peri-urethral mucous glands (arrows) are present in the connective tissue surrounding this urethra.

Vascular spaces (*) belonging to the corpus spongiosum (see Figure 15.1) are shown (bottom left).
