Section of the human prostate which shows numerous irregular profiles of the coiled tubulo-alveolar glands. The framed area is shown at a higher magnification in Figure 15.40.

These glands are separated by abundant connective tissue (*). This tissue contains numerous acidophilic smooth muscle fibres (see Figure 15.41), distributed at random.
