Oblique section of a human seminiferous tubule.

This field shows several nuclei of Sertoli cells (S) aligned along the limiting membrane (M). These nuclei, which are more or less ovoid in shape, are characterized by the presence of a large basophilic nucleolus. The cytoplasmic limits of these Sertoli cells are indistinct.

Other cells in this field are labelled as follows:

  • Spermatocytes (Sc)
  • Spermatids (St)
  • Leydig cells (L), which are located in the intertubular space (L)
