Section stained with TPA of a pulmonary elastic artery (bottom) and the accompanying vein (top).
The wall of the elastic artery shows some elastic lamina (E), smooth muscle fibres (M) and an adventitia (A) containing some collagen type I (yellow). The wall of the vein contains several large muscle fibres containing myofibrils (arrow) stained dark blue, which are identical to cardiac muscle fibres. Stain: TPA
