The intima (I) shows a wavy continuous internal elastic lamella. The media (M) shows four to six layers of smooth muscle cells and a few fine elastic fibres (blue arrows). The adventitia (A), composed of collagen and elastic fibers, is relatively thin. A small nerve (Ne) is present in this adventitia next to the media. Stain: Verhoeff
