The elastic lamina is stained light green (arrows) and the contractile proteins of smooth muscle cells are stained dark green (arrowheads). The yellow-stained material corresponds to type I and III collagens. Type I collagen is abundant at the periphery of the vessel which corresponds to the adventitia (A) of the aorta. Stain: TPA
