The following structures are identified:

  • Phalanges and at their tips the synovial cavities and tendons
  • Thick epidermis
  • Dermis and hypodermis, the latter showing islands of adipose tissue delimited by connective tissue septae
  • Some Pacinian corpuscles visible in the hypodermis
  • Hard keratin of the nail sitting on the nail bed and inserted in the nail matrix. The nail is partly covered by the eponychium.
