Thick section of hairy skin in which the blood vessels have been injected with a red liquid.

Small arteries, or arterioles (arrowheads) are seen in the hypodermis and dermis next to a hair follicle (*). The arterioles open into networks of capillaries (horizontal arrows) seen in the adipose tissue of the hypodermis, in the connective tissue surrounding the basal portion of a hair follicle and in the dermis underlying the epidermis.
