Section of a common sweat gland of the eccrine type.

This field shows the coiled extremity of the gland. It displays the deeply stained ducts (+) and the secretory portion of the gland.

The latter shows two types of secretory cells: the pale serous epithelial cells (arrows) and, inserted between them, the triangular slightly basophilic cells showing basophilic granules at their apex (*).

At the base of the epithelial cells of the glands, the acidophilic projections of cytoplasm (red arrowheads) belong to the contractile myoepithelial cells.
