18.19 Ciliary processes

Version française

Section of two processes of a ciliary body.

These fingerlike processes of the ciliary body are lined with an epithelium composed of a layer of pigmented cells (P) sitting on connective tissue and of a layer of non-pigmented cells at the surface (S).

The surface cells are the insertion site of zonular fibres (Z), heavily stained blue-black with iron hematoxylin.
