    8.14   Compact bone Version française
Area of bone resorption in the compact bone from an adult dog.

This area of bone resorption contains a loose connective tissue with small blood vessels and at its periphery several large chromophilic osteoclasts that contribute to the dissolution of the lamellar bone of the surrounding osteons.

Following the formation of such a tunnel within the bone, osteoblasts differentiate from the connective tissue cells and proceed to form the bone lamellae and eventually a new osteon.
