    8.11   Compact bone Version française
Compact bone from the inner or bone marrow side of the diaphysis.

The inner circumferential lamellae surround the bone marrow cavity. The osteons show their central canals surrounded by concentric lamellae and their osteocytes enclosed in their lacunae.

An area of bone resorption is lined with a layer of osteoblasts at its periphery and shows a loose connective tissue in its centre. These osteoblasts are involved in the reconstruction of an osteon.
