Bottom of the crypt of the circumvallate papilla. This is a higher magnification of the framed area in Figure 11.6.

Several taste buds (arrows) are seen in the wall of the papilla.

The serous acini of Von Ebner’s gland (G) are visible as well as one of its excretory ducts (*) crossing the epithelium of the mucosa in the direction of the crypt.
