A sublingual gland stained with PAS-hematoxylin.
In this section, the glycoprotein-rich granules of the mucous cells are preserved and deeply stained purple with PAS. The associated serous cells (arrows) on the tips of the acini are lightly stained with PAS. The narrow lumen of a small intercalated duct (arrowhead) contains a small amount of secreted mucus.
