This field shows a section of a labial gland composed of mucous acini (M) and serous acini (S). Mixed acini are also present (arrowheads) (see Figure 11.12). The serous cells are intensely stained, while the mucous cells are paler. Excretory ducts (*) are lined with a simple columnar epithelium. Stain: H–E
