1.21   Stratified columnar epithelium of the urethra Version française
Stratified columnar epithelium of the human male urethra.

This epithelium is characterized by the presence of columnar cells at its surface. The underlying cellular layers are composed of polyhedral cells (*).

Except for the basal cells, the other cells of this epithelium have no contact with the underlying connective tissue of the lamina propria (LP).

This epithelium is thus truly stratified.
