Kidney cortex showing sections of proximal (A) and distal (B) convoluted tubules.

The proximal convoluted tubules show an acidophilic cytoplasm and a striated brush border (arrows).

At the apex of the slightly paler distal convoluted tubules a striated border is absent.

The lumina (*) of both proximal and distal tubules contain precipitated proteins.

Capillaries are also labelled (C).
