Renal corpuscle stained with PAS.
The glycoproteins of the basement membranes are stained red-purple with this method. The PAS-positive basement membrane is visible between the endothelial cells of capillaries and the podocytes (red arrows). The basement membrane is also intensely stained under the epithelial cells of the parietal layer of Bowman’s capsule (blue arrowheads). A PAS-positive basement membrane is also present underlying the epithelium of the proximal convoluted tubules (green arrows). Stain: PAS-Hematoxylin
