Les capillaires (Cap) contenant des globules rouges sont facilement identifés entre les cellules endocrines de l’îlot.

La plupart de ces cellules sont légèrement basophiles et correspondent aux cellules B (B) qui sécrètent l’insuline. Les quelques cellules qui sont légèrement éosinophiles correspondent aux acidophiles (A) qui sécrètent le glucagon.
