Drawings illustrating the structure of the cochlea, the cochlear duct, and the organ of Corti. Note that the cochlear duct, triangular in cross section, divides the cochlea into three compartments: the scala vestibuli, the cochlear duct proper, and the scala tympani. While the cochlear duct contains endolymph, the scala vestibuli and the scala tympani contain perilymph.
