La cellule suivante est étiquetée. Un myélocyte neutrophile I avec un gros noyau ovoïde montrant un gros nucléole. Le cytoplasme est basophile mais moins chromophile que celui du promyélocyte de la figure 7.16. Il contient des granules azurophiles et de fines granulations légèrement acidophiles dans une zone juxta-nucléaire pâle.
